Processing, storing, and analyzing high-dimensional IoT data from thousands of field devices is challenging, but enables new business opportunities for classical hardware manufacturers. We developed a big data platform for the RATIONAL AG to process IoT data from large commercial cooking appliances. We present challenges, pitfalls, and the system architecture of our implemented solution, which serves reporting and condition monitoring for thousands of customers.
